Years before we became "farmers" we had a "flock" of 3 Bantam chickens: Henny Penny, Harriet, and Dr. Frank Sanchez. All the sudden "fun" took on a new meaning. We never had to leave our porch, for all the entertainment we needed was happening in the bushes, on the deck, on the picnic table, in the leaves.....all around us. Those chickens had pizazz. Currently, our chicken flock is too large to give them all names (it doesn't mean we don't try), but we still appreciate their individual personalities and needs, and the added value they bring to our lives. As long as we have a hen scratching in the bushes and the tell-tale holler of a fresh laid egg, we will be rich.
Both our laying hens and our meat chickens have free range over the land. They have ample space to enjoy fresh forage, insects, seeds, and sunshine. The chickens typically follow the larger animals in rotation, making use of their pecking and scratching abilities to help evenly spread the “natural fertilizer” left by the larger animals. This builds healthy soils and improves the quality of our soils. The grain for our chickens is all natural, non-GMO and comes from a local farm.
Our eggs and chickens are only available at our Farm Store.
